Incoming Freshman Scholarship - Fall 2009
Scholarship Announcement
The Northern Essex Community College Alumni Association is proud to announce a scholarship opportunity for students entering Northern Essex in the fall of 2009 from area high schools. The $500 scholarship covers tuition and/or fees and is renewable for $500 in the spring semester if student meets specific requirements*. The recipients will be selected by the NECC Alumni Scholarship Committee and notified by mail and/or high school guidance counselor. Four students will be selected for Fall 2009.
Scholarship Criteria:
- Student must be nominated by an Alumna/us of Northern Essex
- Student must graduate from high school with a minimum 2.50 cum average (please submit official transcript with your application)
- Must enroll in a minimum of 9 credits for Fall 2009 at NECC
- Submit a reference from a teacher or school guidance counselor
- Submit a typewritten essay including the following information:
- Educational goals
- Extra-curricular or athletic activities
- Community/church involvement
- Hobbies/special interests
*Scholarship renewal criteria:
- Earn a grade average of 3.0 or above for fall 2009
- Reference from a faculty member or advisor
- Enrolled for Spring 2010 in 9 credits or more
- Write brief statement on educational experience in first semester
