Become a Student: Applicant Checklist


APPLY for Admission

Meet with an Enrollment Services Counselor and complete an application at one of our weekly information sessions which are held on Tuesday evenings at 6 pm at the One-Stop Student Service Center on the Haverhill Campus, or at our Lawrence Campus on Thursday evenings at 5:30 pm. There is also a tour of the Haverhill Campus every Wednesday at 3:00. Contact Enrollment Services today to sign up for any of these events.

There is a $25 application fee. For fastest processing of your application, bring $25 to the session. Submit a copy of your official final high school transcript, diploma, or GED. Submit official college transcript(s) if you plan to transfer credit to NECC.

APPLY for Financial Aid Online

Financial Assistance is available to help you finance your education. Your first step in the Financial Aid process is to apply for a PIN at www.pin.ed.gov. Your second step is to complete a FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) at www.FAFSA.ed.gov. When completing the FAFSA online, be sure to list Northern Essex Community College in the “schools information section.” NECC’s code is 002174. Once NECC has received your FAFSA you will be notified of any additional requirements.

TAKE the Academic Skills Assessment

All students must take the Academic Skills Assessment which measures your reading, writing, and math skills. If you have already taken the assessment within the last three years, you do not have to re-test. Waivers MAY be granted to students who have fulfilled certain requirements at other institutions. REGISTER for Classes

Stop by the One-Stop Student Services Center in Haverhill or Lawrence and meet with an academic advisor before registering for courses to ensure your experience at NECC is as successful as possible. . An up-to-date list of available classes can be found on the Credit Course Schedule.
