Tutoring Centers
NECC provides two very distinct academic support services:
- Developmental Studies - for students who need assistance in in building a stronger academic foundation and acquiring more skills for future success.
- Academic Resource & Tutoring Center - for students already enrolled in college-level courses that are looking for extra help.
Developmental Studies
NECC has the followingLearning Centers on both the Haverhill and Lawrence, MA campuses that provide you with individual or group support on either a drop-in or scheduled basis:
- English Language Center - provides one-on-one tutoring to students enrolled in the college's ESL classes as well as to former ESL students needing assistance in content-area courses.
- Reading Center - provides tutoring support to students enrolled in the Basic Reading, Basic Reading Lab and College Reading and College Reading Lab courses.
- Writing Center - provides one-on-one tutoring to students enrolled in the college's developmental writing courses.
- Math Center provides individual and group tutoring to students enrolled in the developmental math courses, Basic Math, Basic Algebra I, Basic Algebra II, as well other math courses offered at NECC. The staff can also address specific needs such as math anxiety, calculator use, or questions about the math course sequence.
Academic Resources & Tutoring Center
The Academic Resources and Tutoring Center provides a broad network of instructional support services to ensure your success as a student enrolled in NECC courses. The ATC features tutoring provided by faculty and peer tutors, a college-level writing lab, study groups, and study skills workshops.
Assistance is available on both a walk-in and by-appointment basis.
