Joint Admissions Program
Benefits to NECC students
Enrollment
- Free bus transportation to one UML campus event per year.
- Priority for merit scholarships (minimum GPA required).
Eligibility
Eligibility
- NECC graduates will be admitted to UML with a cumulative GPA of 2.000 or required cumulative GPA for graduation from NECC.
- Attend two transfer events annually.
- This program does not include the UMass Lowell Nursing Program.
- Some degress have additional course or GPA requirements which must be met before admission will be offered.

- Meet with a designated transfer admissions counselor.
- Attend up to two transfer events annually.
- Meet UML admissions criteria (NECC GPA of 2.0+ or higher if required).
- Attend two transfer events annually.

- Submit an application and official NECC transcript (plus other college transcripts and reports if applicable).

- Indicate interest in the program on the NECC application.
- NECC shares directory info with UML, and students opt in via UML’s communication.
- Access to a dedicated Joint Admissions counselor.
- Sign up for Transfer Registration
- Early registration with current UML students holding 60+ credits.
Credit Evaluation
- Transfer Credits: A.A./A.S. graduates can transfer up to 60 credits (max 75); only courses with a “C-” or higher qualify. Core Curriculum requirements at UML are waived for NECC graduates.
- Students who complete the A.A. or A.S. degree at NECC shall be exempt from completing UMass Lowell’s Core Curriculum as those requirements are considered to have been met at NECC.
MassTransfer
NECC students who aren’t able to participate in the Joint Admissions program may choose to explore options available through MassTransfer.
