Food Assistance for NECC Students

Food insecurity is a common challenge for college students in Massachusetts and across the country. Northern Essex Community College cares about its students and knows hunger can impact academic success. We have several initiatives aimed to help.

Food Vouchers

Current students are eligible to receive $10 food vouchers that can be used on the Haverhill Campus to buy food in the bookstore and Spurk Building Cafe.  For more information about this program please email Jason Arey, Dean of Students at jarey@necc.mass.edu

Food Pantry

NECC has a food pantry on the Lawrence campus, available to all current students at no cost.

Interested in Donating? Anything helps!

Food: pasta, rice, beans (canned or dry), cereal, canned goods, canned chicken/tuna, shelf-stable milk (dairy and non-dairy), frozen products

Other:  personal hygiene products, cleaning items, toothpaste, 

**Gift cards are always welcome.**

Weekend Snack Bags

Our snacks bags provide students with a variety of healthy snacks and other easy to prepare foods.  For more information about this program, please email Jason Arey, Dean of Students at jarey@necc.mass.edu

Market Basket Gift Cards

Current students are eligible to receive a $50 Market Basket gift card.  Supplies are limited.  For more information about this program, please click the Food Resources Request link below. 

SNAP Benefits

Many students who qualify for financial aid also qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). If you are interested in seeing if you qualify and/or to apply, please visit Mass Department of Transitional Assistance for MA residents and for NH residents, please visit New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services.
