NECC Offers New Program for Older Learners
Getting Friendly with Fungi, Five Fun Films, Sacred Geometry, and Aging Gracefully are just a few of the topics offered this fall by Northern Essex Community College’s newest Life Long Learning Program titled College of Older Learners (CoOL).
CoOL encourages learning as a community with active engagement from both the participants as well as the seminar leader. It is a member-directed, peer-led program that encourages members to help develop future seminar topics or become seminar leaders.
The membership fee is $25 for the 2011 fall semester. Each six-week, two-hour per week seminar is $10. The CoOL seminars begin the first week in October and will be held on the Haverhill campus.
Topics include, Getting Friendly with Fungi: Edible Mushrooms of the North Shore with Liz Anderson; Five Fun Films with Leonard Douglas, Dante’s Inferno, with Peter Spellman; Sacred Geometry with Ben Coughlin; Energy, Environment & Global Affairs with Michael Levin; How Good is Your Diet with Ruth Young; Aging Gracefully with Arleen Damon and Emily Weidman; The Good Life with George Medelinskas; Enriching Our Relationship with Life with Kate Zehnter.
