President’s Running Club Runs First Race
Every Monday since September, a group of students, faculty, and staff have been joining President Lane Glenn for a run around the campus.
The group started slow, with a combination of running and walking, and by the end of November they were running three miles around the campus.
Their hard work paid off on Thanksgiving morning when 15 members of the group ran Andover’s Feaster Five Road Race. President Glenn promised everyone who attended at least six weekly runs a free t-shirt—printed with the slogan “We run the campus”– and free entry to the race.
For several members of the group, including Sherrie Carroll of the Gallaudet Universtiy Regional Center and David Howard, adjunct faculty, this was their first race.
For Carroll, it will definitely not be her last. “It was wonderful to be with such an amazing group of runners. I was on a natural high, smiling the whole way and so proud of myself for finishing.”
Once the weather improves, the President’s Running Club will be gearing up for a second challenge. Those interested should contact President Glenn at lglenn@necc.mass.edu.
