Nearly 100 residents of Emmaus House in Haverhill will be resting their heads on comfy, new pillows thanks to the fundraising efforts of the new Northern Essex Community College Human Services Club.

Club members, under the direction of Diane Mele, a professor in the Deaf Studies Interpreter Training and Human Services Programs, and faculty advisor to the club, raised enough money through smoothie sales and raffles to purchase 100 new pillows for residents living at the Emmaus Homeless Shelter on How Street in Haverhill.

The Human Services Club was launched in October of 2014. This was its first fundraising initiative. This year’s club officers were Maria Delacruz and Evelyn Rodriguez Co-presidents, Maria Reynolds Vice President, Alicia Bursey and Benjamin Isaacman- co-secretaries and Christianne Perry- treasurer.
