Hashtag Campaign Showcases Community Colleges
Students get your hashtags ready.
It’s time to show some Knights’ pride. Northern Essex Community College in partnership with The Massachusetts Community College Executive Office is sponsoring a Twitter campaign to build awareness of community colleges. All Massachusetts community college students are encouraged to tweet @ their school with the hashtag – #prideinmycc.
“We hope students will share short stories about successes, influential faculty, and beautiful pictures,” says Gretchen E. Manning, Deputy Executive Officer, MA Community Colleges Executive Office. “While you may be limited to 140 characters, always remember that a picture or short video can go a long way.”
“Share what you love about Northern Essex, what your ambitions are, or where you plan to transfer – be creative,” said Nathan Gilbert, NECC’s director of online communications.
Tweets will be entered into a drawing at each college. The NECC winner will receive a $50 gift card to the NECC Bookstore.
Submissions will be accepted via Twitter November 9 through December 9. Participants must be currently enrolled in courses to be eligible to win, but anyone can participate. To participate, Instagram or Tweet @northernessex along with the hashtag #prideinmycc. Multiple entries are allowed and pictures are heavily encouraged.
The goal of this campaign is for students at the 15 Massachusetts community colleges to share their experiences in order to build awareness of community colleges, to showcase unique campus facilities, build awareness of each college’s unique brand.
“While each college will run its own campaign, we hope that this unifying hashtag will also help the community colleges collectively make a statewide impact on social media,” said Manning.
