CSI will be the Focus of Free Talk at Woburn Library
Mike Cross, associate professor of chemistry and department chair of natural sciences at Northern Essex Community College, will present a free lecture at 7 p.m. on Thursday, September 29 at the Woburn Public Library, 45 Pleasant St., Woburn, MA. The event is open to the public.
Titled “CSI: Fact or Fiction,” the lecture will cover the myths and realities of crime scene investigations, exploring the authenticity of their depictions in popular television shows and films. Attendees will learn about the strengths and limitations of modern forensics and have the unique opportunity to test their own crime-solving skills. A brief question and answer period will follow the presentation.
Mike Cross holds a Ph.D. in organic chemistry from the University of Utah, where he specialized in oxidative lesions in DNA and RNA. He teaches courses in chemistry and forensic science at NECC. Prior to joining the faculty, Cross was an instructor in chemistry at the College of Eastern Utah.
“CSI: Fact or Fiction” is sponsored by the Woburn Public Library. Professor Cross is part of the NECC Speakers Bureau, which has speakers available to present to public and private school systems, libraries, service clubs, and more.
