NECC Knights Head for NJCAA World Series
The Northern Essex Community College Knights (26-14) will open up the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III World Series this Saturday, May 26, at 4 pm in Greeneville, TN, as the #6 seed in the eight-team tournament. The Knights will play the #3 seed and four-time defending national champion Tyler (TX) Junior College. Tyler defeated Northern Essex in the 2016 National Championship game.
If the Knights win on Saturday, they will play the winner of the game between Rowan-Gloucester (NJ) and St. Cloud Tech (MN) on Sunday at 7:30 pm. If they lose, they will play the loser of that game at 12:30 on Sunday.
Last weekend, the Knights clinched the District F Super Regional Series with a 7-5 victory over Suffolk County Community College (NY), earning a berth in the NJCAA World Series.
This will be the Knights seventh trip to the NJCAA World Series in recent years.
