A dedicated advocate for education, health, and community leadership, Almanzar-Lizardo has demonstrated her commitment to making a difference. She recently completed her associate degree at NECC and is transitioning to UMass Lowell to continue her academic journey. Her passion for service has been recognized through her nomination for the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Scholarship, further strengthening her dedication to fostering positive change in her community.

“I believe my journey can inspire other young people to take on leadership roles and engage in their communities,” said Almanzar-Lizardo. “NECC has played a transformative role in my education, and I hope to encourage others to explore opportunities that align with their passions.”

In 2025, the YMCA National Board will, for the first time, include a representative from the Youth Advisory Council, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to prioritizing youth voices in strategic decision-making. The National Board, comprised of 28 leaders from various industries, provides direction to advance the Y’s mission of empowering individuals and communities.

“Our Youth Advisory Council and our National Board both reflect the Y’s commitment to elevating a range of voices in our organization,” said Suzanne McCormick, President and CEO of Y-USA. “These new members will strengthen our board, bringing unique perspectives and experiences to its work. Y-USA is blessed to have accomplished volunteer leaders who are dedicated to ensuring that Ys across the country have the resources and support they need to shape a brighter future for their communities.”
