Run to Join the President’s Running Club
Whether you are looking to get in shape or stay in shape, the NECC President’s Running Cub, which begins Monday, February 1, for veteran and novice runners, joggers, and walkers, may be an exercise option for you.
The club, now in its third year, meets every Monday from 12 until 1 p.m. in the lobby of the Sport & Fitness Center on the Haverhill campus. It is open to staff, faculty, and students. Participants run or walk the college’s scenic campus.
If you are new to the whole running/jogging/walking routine, let Coach Jeff Bickford ease you into a “couch to 5K” training program.
There is no obligation to attend the weekly club run/walk. Participants may choose to run or walk at an alternative time on the Haverhill campus or Lawrence YMCA. Just sign in at the front desk when you head out for your run and when you return.
Everyone who logs at least 10 runs/walks in a semester will receive a special club t-shirt and free entry into the NECC Campus Classic 5k & Fun Run in the spring or the Santa Dash in the fall. If you participate in the President’s running Club for four semesters, you qualify for a club jacket.
Those intending to participate in the President’s running Club should fill out a risk and consent form and bring it on the first walk/run.
