NECC Offers Alternative Spring Break Activities

Submitted by on March 16, 2018 – 4:02 pm

(Left) Trang Phan, an international student from Vietnam, who currently lives in Haverhill, and Kristen Adams of Groveland volunteered in the Lawrence Habitat Restore during Northern Essex Community College’s alternative spring break activities.

Some civic-minded Northern Essex Community College students took advantage of their break from classroom studies to participate this week in an Alternative Spring Break to help others.

On Wednesday, March 14, five students along with Janel D’Agata-Lynch, coordinator of civic engagement, service-learning, and community resources, assisted in serving dinner to the visitors of Cor Unum in Lawrence.

The following evening, four students along with D’Agata-Lynch and Kile Adumene, a Merrimack College fellow with NECC spent over four hours voluntarily working at the Habitat Restore in Lawrence.

The nor’easter that blanketed the region put a bit of a wet blanket on other Alternative Spring Break plans. The planned Habitat Build has been rescheduled to May and the Emmaus House visit to serve dinner was cancelled.
