Outstanding Alumni Award Recipient Brian Mohika ’06

The Northern Essex Community College Alumni Board is pleased to announce Haverhill resident Brian Mohika ’06 as the latest recipient of the Outstanding Alumni Award, an honor granted on an annual basis to a graduate who has achieved career-related success, is active in the local community, and/or has exemplified active support for the college. His nomination was announced following a board vote, with support from President Lane Glenn.

A graduate of NECC’s Radiologic Technology Program, Mohika is the CEO and founder of CathWear, a Lawrence-based brand of medical undergarments designed with built-in catheter channel tracts for individuals with mobility-limiting medical conditions. The brand, which is now on the international market, has received multiple accolades since its founding in 2017, including the 2020 Merrimack Valley Chamber of Commerce Emerging Leader Award, and first place in the national Hofstra University Veterans Venture Challenge. Mohika is a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

In addition to his significant contributions to the health care industry, Mohika is also actively involved in volunteer efforts. He is a member of the American Nurses Association Innovation Advisory Board as well as the NECC Alumni Board, and regularly returns to campus to help with college initiatives and student engagement efforts.

“NECC catapulted my career, and now I’m on the international stage, hoping to continue working more closely with the students currently enrolled,” Mohika says of his relationship to the college, upon receiving news of his award win.

Mohika recently published a book, “Let It Flow,” which chronicles the author’s career journey from student to nurse to business entrepreneur. He holds a bachelor’s degree in nursing from UMass Lowell and is currently enrolled in a master’s degree program at Northpoint Bible College.
