NECC Announces Pop-up Vaccination Clinics

Submitted by on September 23, 2021 – 1:34 pm

Haverhill and Lawrence, MA (Oct. 13, 2021)-Northern Essex Community College is planning two pop-up vaccination clinics the last week in October, one in Lawrence and one in Haverhill, especially for faculty, staff, and students, but also open to the community.

Offered in partnership with the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC), the clinics will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 9 to noon in the lobby of the Dimitry Building, 45 Franklin St., and in Haverhill on Friday, Oct. 29 from 9 to noon in the lobby of the D Building, which is located at 100 Elliott St. Walk-ins are welcome.

Moderna and Pfizer vaccines will be available and there are incentives for getting vaccinated: a $25 Market Basket gift card for the first vaccine and a $5 Dunkin Donuts gift card for the second vaccine.

In addition to the COVID-19 vaccines, the flu shot will be available as well, free when presenting most insurance cards or with a $20 fee.

The college held pop-up vaccination clinics on both campuses in late September. COVID vaccinations were given to 20 (14 in Lawrence and 6 in Haverhill) and 34 received flu shots.

Last month, the presidents of the Massachusetts Community Colleges announced that they will require students, faculty and staff to be fully vaccinated by January 2022.

Students who are registering for online courses that do not include any in-person component, will be exempted from the vaccine mandate.

“We believe that the more people who are vaccinated, the safer we will be as a community,” said Lane Glenn, NECC president. “That’s why we are doing everything possible to make the vaccines available to our faculty, staff, and students, and the communities we serve.”
