Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF II) Reporting
Northern Essex Community College has received funding through the Coronavirus Response and Relief Supplemental Appropriations (CRRSA) Act to assist students with financial need due to the coronavirus. Students who need help covering expenses related to the cost of attendance, such as tuition and fees, housing, food, technology, childcare, or healthcare may benefit from funding available through the CRRSA Act Student Grant.
Summer 2021 Student Grants
The college has $1,635,822 in funding to go directly to students. NECC identified 1,544 students from the summer 2021 term who are eligible to receive direct funding from this grant. Eligible students who are enrolled during the summer 2021 term and have unmet need of $500 or more based on their FAFSA application were automatically awarded grants in the range of $500 – $1,500 based on their summer enrollment.

Students who did not fill out a FAFSA were evaluated for exceptional need based on their application. Students who needed assistance paying their student account balance for the 2020-2021 academic year were able to authorize the use of HEERF II funds to pay their balances.
Grants were made available to Early College students as well as students enrolled in non-credit English Language courses and non-credit Corporate & Community Education classes based on exceptional need.
To date, NECC has awarded $1,458,400.46 to 1,221 students from HEERF II. This includes 71 English Language Learners and 116 Early College students.
Of the total in funding for students, $177,421.54 was rolled over into HEERF III.
